Lease Accounting Manager – Rockville, MD. Overview: Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Rockville, MD in their search for a Lease Accounting Manager to join their team. This role is responsible for overseeing lease administration and recovery accounting functions for a commercial real estate portfolio, with a strong focus on CAM and tax recoveries, tenant reconciliations, and team oversight. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in retail lease accounting and operational management.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee lease accounting and administration activities, including CAM, tax, and other recovery reconciliations
  • Review and approve tenant account adjustments, reconciliations, refunds, and billing transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Manage quarterly tax accruals and support CAM analysis from a billing and collection perspective
  • Lead and oversee Lease Administrators and third-party partners, ensuring deadlines, quality standards, and key performance indicators are met
  • Provide guidance regarding lease interpretation, recoveries, and billing-related inquiries
  • Coordinate tenant CAM audit activities and support related reporting and analysis
  • Develop and implement process improvements and operational best practices
  • Collaborate closely with accounting, finance, legal, collections, and property operations teams on lease-related matters
  • Prepare internal reporting and support special projects as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Commercial real estate lease accounting or lease administration experience required, including CAM and tax recovery experience
  • Management or team oversight experience required, including reviewing work and conducting performance management activities
  • Strong retail lease accounting experience required
  • Experience with property management systems such as JDE, Yardi, or MRI preferred
  • Strong lease interpretation, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate Excel skills required
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
