We are looking for a detail-oriented Lease Accountant to join we well known and reputable organization based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The lease accountant is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing lease-related transactions, and maintaining compliance with ASC 842 standards. The ideal lease accountant will bring expertise in lease accounting, general ledger reconciliations, and journal entries while demonstrating a strong commitment to precision and timeliness. Accountants with prior lease accounting experience (ASC 842) and a solid background in Accounting GL are encouraged to apply.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze and interpret lease agreements to extract critical details such as rent terms, escalations, and renewal options
Maintain and update lease data within the accounting system to ensure compliance with ASC 842
Prepare monthly journal entries, including adjustments for straight-line rent and lease liability amortization
Reconcile lease-related accounts and promptly address discrepancies to ensure accuracy
Process monthly rent payments, including base rent, percentage rent, and additional charges
Validate landlord invoices against lease terms to ensure accurate billing
Generate monthly and quarterly lease reports for management and auditing purposes
Support external audits by providing schedules, documentation, and detailed analysis
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with contractual obligations and financial reporting standards
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in lease accounting or a related field
Proficiency in preparing journal entries and performing general ledger reconciliations
In-depth knowledge of ASC 842 and lease agreement terms
Strong skills in deferred rent calculations and amortization processes
Experience with month-end close procedures and balance sheet reconciliations
Familiarity with Oracle or similar accounting systems
Ability to analyze and interpret lease documents with a high level of accuracy
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
