Job Description:

The Learning Technologist will work as part of a team to provide technical support to academic and professional staff in the design, development, management, and delivery of online and blended courses and units. In this people-focused role, they will provide expert advice about the best practices in the use of technologies for the development of engaging learning content and activities. This is a key role in assisting staff to develop their digital capabilities in learning and teaching.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide specialist, professional advice and support to academic and professional staff on teaching, learning and assessment with digital technologies
  • Manage tasks supporting online learning and teaching in unit contexts, such as the creation and preparation of high quality, UDL informed online learning environments
  • Continuously develop and improve knowledge, skills and processed in the use of new and existing learning technologies
  • Identify opportunities to refine processes to improve productivity within the Curriculum Design and Innovation team, particularly using generative AI and other emerging technologies
  • Deliver high-quality and accurate work, ensuring alignment with institutional standards, and collaborate across academic support teams and academic units

Requirements:

  • Completion of relevant degree and subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and/or training
  • Experience using learning management systems (in particular, D2L Brightspace) and integrated systems e.g. PebblePad and Echo360
  • Skilled in creating high‑quality HTML, media, and interactive content aligned with accessibility, copyright, and UDL standards
  • Demonstrated excellence in communicating with academic staff and others who have a range of technical understanding
  • Adept in keeping up to date with current learning technologies and producing succinct, accurate guides and training for staff as required
  • Proven expertise in integrating Generative Artificial Intelligence tools within educational settings
