Job Description

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will act as a mentor, guide, and motivator. You will support learners across all three pillars—whether that's assisting them in the cafe, accompanying them on community trips, or helping them with classroom learning. You will also help track and celebrate student success using their tailored progress-monitoring system, 'graphing'.

Job Responsibility

  • Act as a mentor, guide, and motivator
  • Support learners across all three pillars (work experience, life skills, and education)
  • Assist learners in the cafe
  • Accompany learners on community trips
  • Help learners with classroom learning
  • Help track and celebrate student success using their tailored progress-monitoring system, 'graphing'
  • Manage complex behavioural needs with patience, empathy, and positive de-escalation techniques

Requirements

  • Proven experience working within Special Educational Needs (SEN) with adults, or a strong background in the care sector
  • A good general level of education is required to support learners with their studies
  • Strong communication skills
  • Resilience
  • A knack for managing behavioural needs calmly and effectively
  • A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine desire to help adults build independence

Nice to have

  • Background in youth work
  • Experience in administering medication
  • Experience in managing challenging behaviour
  • Experience with autism spectrum disorders
  • Experience with learning difficulties
  • Experience with social emotional mental health
  • Manual handling
  • Restraint training
  • Speech and language therapy experience
  • Personal care experience
