We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated individual to join our team as a Learning Support Worker, providing 1:1 support to a student with special educational needs. This is a fantastic permanent opportunity for someone passionate about making a direct and meaningful difference in the life of a young person with SEN. You will work closely with a specific student, helping them to thrive within a supportive and specialised environment, and will receive comprehensive training and mentoring from experienced SEN educators.
Job Responsibility:
Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with special educational needs
Assist the student in accessing the curriculum, understanding tasks, and completing work, particularly in Maths and English
Support the student in developing their academic, social, emotional, and independent living skills
Work collaboratively with the class teacher, therapists, and other support staff
Help to implement the student's individualised learning plan (ILP) or education, health and care plan (EHCP)
Contribute to the monitoring and tracking of the student's progress
Assist in maintaining a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment
Build a strong, positive, and trusting relationship with the student, as well as with their parents/carers and colleagues
Participate actively in relevant staff meetings and training sessions
Requirements:
A genuine passion for working with children and young people with special educational needs
GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or higher are required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, empathy, resilience, and a consistently positive attitude
A commitment to continuous professional development
The ability to work effectively as part of a team
An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, various special educational needs and effective support strategies
