At Barking & Dagenham College, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for a committed and compassionate Learning Support professional to join our Additional Learning Support (ALS) team and make a meaningful difference to the lives of students with learning difficulties and disabilities. You will primarily support learners within foundation learning programmes, delivering both one-to-one and in-class support to ensure students can fully access their curriculum.
Job Responsibility:
Work under the supervision and guidance of tutors to support students with mild/moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities within Horizons
Provide one-to-one and group support (direct and indirect) for students following foundation courses, primarily within the learning environment
Collaborate with Student Support Advisors and the Youth Worker to support students with SEMH needs and encourage positive engagement and attendance
Use learning support systems to ensure bespoke, individualised support plans are implemented effectively
Support, monitor and track learner progress, attendance, behaviour and completion of vocational activity
Promote inclusive practice and positive learning behaviours within the classroom
Contribute to creating a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment
Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with curriculum and support teams
Requirements:
A level 2 or above qualification
Experience of providing effective coaching for students on an individual basis or in a group setting to support success and progression
Understanding of academic and vocational education in a College setting
A high level of oral skills, both one to one and in a group setting
Excellent written skills: able to compile clear procedures, manuals, guides etc.
