We are looking for 2 dedicated Learning Support Practitioners to join Horizons team,to support 19+ learners in class, within a dynamic and inclusive college environment. In this role, you will provide high-quality, tailored support to adult learners with additional learning needs. You will work one-to-one, within the classroom, and in small groups to help learners access and succeed in Maths, English, ESOL and vocational programmes. You will play a key role in promoting independence, building confidence and ensuring that support is responsive to individual learner needs. Through your work, you will empower learners to progress successfully in their studies and achieve their wider personal and career aspirations
Job Responsibility:
Work under the supervision and guidance of tutors to support students with mild/moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities within Horizons
Provide one-to-one and group support (direct and indirect) for students following foundation courses, primarily within the learning environment
Collaborate with Horizons Specialist staff, Student Support Advisors and the Youth Worker to support students with SEMH needs and encourage positive engagement and attendance
Use learning support systems to ensure bespoke, individualised support plans are implemented effectively
Support, monitor and track learner progress, attendance, behaviour and completion of vocational activity
Promote inclusive practice and positive learning behaviours within the classroom
Contribute to creating a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment
Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with curriculum and support teams
Requirements:
A level 2 or above qualification
Experience of providing effective coaching for students on an individual basis or in a group setting to support success and progression
Understanding of academic and vocational education in a College setting
A high level of oral skills, both one to one and in a group setting
Excellent written skills: able to compile clear procedures, manuals, guides etc.
