This role offers a defined career pathway for SEMH Learning Support Mentors. Job Responsibility:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to ensure students engage meaningfully with their learning
Mentor young people through emotional and behavioural challenges, helping them build resilience and social skills
Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver differentiated lessons that meet specific SEMH needs
Support pupils who are working off-timetable or require additional supervision outside the standard classroom setting
Liaise and collaborate with pastoral teams, on-site therapists, and external professionals to provide holistic care
Implement de-escalation strategies effectively to maintain a safe and positive learning environment
Requirements:
Experience working within SEMH settings, alternative provision, or with young people displaying challenging behaviours
UK based learning support mentor experience
Confidence in using behaviour support techniques and de-escalation strategies
A resilient, patient, and nurturing approach to building relationships with students
Commitment to the full-time working hours and punctuality is essential
Willingness to invest in the school community and engage in continuous professional learning
An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one immediately)
