Requirements

Previous experience in supporting young people
Sound understanding of the range of issues facing young people with barriers to their learning (including social, emotional and behavioural)
Ability to motivate students with differing needs and abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills in working with students
Ability to remain calm
Problem solving approach to managing challenging situations

Job Responsibility

Provide a range of support to learners with a variety of needs including difficulties/disabilities, Literacy, Numeracy and Language
Provide emotional support and encourage participation in the learning environment
Support learners with personal care needs
Support learners across a wide range of vocational subjects
Work alongside classroom tutors to break down barriers and ensure that learners are able to access the curriculum and reach their full potential
Ensure that individual learner needs are met
Contribute to raising awareness and understanding of the needs of individual learners in the wider college community
