We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming special needs school. This is a rewarding opportunity to support secondary-aged students with autism, helping them to access learning, develop life skills, and thrive in a supportive environment. The role is initially to cover compassionate leave until Christmas, with the possibility of extension for the right person who demonstrates commitment, flexibility, and genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs.
Job Responsibility:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with autism and other additional needs
Work under the guidance of class teachers to adapt learning activities to suit individual needs
Assist with the development of communication, social, and independence skills
Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management in line with school policies
Encourage and promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
Build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families
Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a SEN or autism-specific setting
Patience, empathy, and resilience
Ability to adapt to individual learning needs and communicate effectively
A genuine interest in supporting the progress and wellbeing of young people
Team player with a flexible and positive attitude
