Learning Support Assistant – Alternative Provision (Guildford, Surrey). Do you have a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a committed Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist Alternative Provision in Guildford, helping pupils aged 5–16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.
Job Responsibility:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs
Assist the teacher in delivering engaging, tailored lessons that promote progress and positive behaviour
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and supported
Contribute to a calm, nurturing environment where every child can thrive
Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEMH or SEND setting
Resilience, empathy, and a proactive approach to managing challenging behaviour
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team
A genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable learners
