Job Description:

Are you an academically minded, supportive individual with a knack for making difficult concepts 'click'? Join our network as a Learning Support Assistant and help students overcome learning barriers to reach their full potential. Bridging the Gap: Impact Through Intervention. We are seeking Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work across Primary and Secondary settings. Unlike a general assistant, your role is focused on learning outcomes-identifying where a student is struggling and providing the specific scaffolding, tools, and encouragement they need to succeed.

Job Responsibility:

Take a standard lesson and 're-package' it, creating simplified worksheets, visual aids, or word banks to suit the specific needs of the learners you support
Take charge of 'breakout' sessions, guiding 3-5 students through a specific task to ensure they are not overwhelmed by the pace of the main classroom
Use the 'scaffold and fade' technique - providing heavy support initially and gradually stepping back as the student gains confidence to work alone
Maintain clear records of student breakthroughs and hurdles, providing vital data to the Class Teacher and SENCO to help shape future lessons
Lead small group interventions in Literacy and Numeracy, helping students catch up or keep pace with the curriculum
Teach students how to learn, focusing on organisation, memory techniques, and confidence-building

Requirements:

Academic confidence: strong GCSEs, especially in English and Maths, and ability to explain academic concepts clearly and creatively
Proactive
Relevant experience: university tutoring, coaching, or previous school work
Committed: holds an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willing to apply, and is dedicated to Safeguarding
