Job Description:

The Perfect Start for Future Teachers: Learning Support in Maghull (L31). This January 2026, we have Learning Support Assistant roles in Maghull that give you real experience in a real classroom to support our KS3 and KS4 students. Whether you want a steady long-term job to learn the ropes or day-to-day work to see different schools, this role will prepare you for your future career like nothing else.

Job Responsibility:

Sitting with students in class to help them get started on their work
Helping the teacher hand out worksheets and get the room ready for the lesson
Working one-on-one with students who find subjects like English or Maths a bit tricky
Keeping students focused on their tasks so they don't get distracted
Making sure the classroom stays tidy and all books are put away at the end
Working with students in small groups to practice reading or simple tasks
Listening to students read and helping them with words they don't know
Helping the teacher keep the class calm and well-behaved
Walking around the room to see if any student needs a bit of extra help

Requirements:

A University Degree OR a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly valued
A friendly and patient personality so you can support students who find school hard
Clear communication skills so you can talk to teenagers and other staff members easily
The ability to stay calm and helpful even when the classroom gets busy
A real interest in education and helping young people reach their goals
