Job Description

Learning Support Assistant – SEMH School. This school supports pupils aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The environment is structured, supportive and focused on helping students rebuild confidence, regulate emotions and re-engage with learning.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Helping pupils regulate behaviour and remain engaged with learning
  • Supporting structured classroom activities and routines
  • Encouraging positive relationships and communication
  • Promoting pupil wellbeing and safeguarding at all times

Requirements

  • DBS on the Update Service
  • Up to date safeguarding training
  • A calm, patient and confident approach
  • Ability to build strong relationships with young people

Nice to have

  • SEMH or behaviour support
  • SEND schools or alternative provisions
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Care or support work
  • Sports coaching or community work
