Learning Support Assistant

• 1:1 & Small Group Support: Provide targeted interventions for students with ASD, ADHD, or SEMH needs
• Scaffolding Learning: Break down complex tasks into manageable steps and use visual aids to support comprehension
• Behavioral Mentoring: Use de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement to manage challenging behaviors and promote a calm learning environment
• Social & Emotional Growth: Help students develop core life skills, including confidence-building, turn-taking, and emotional regulation
• Progress Tracking: Work with the teacher to monitor student milestones and provide feedback on the effectiveness of support strategies

• Empathy & Patience: A natural ability to build rapport with 'hard to reach' students and understand the 'why' behind their behavior
• Adaptability: Someone who can pivot their approach based on a student's immediate sensory or emotional needs
• Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people (SEN experience is highly desirable but a 'can-do' attitude is essential)
• Communication: Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to support students with speech and language impediments
• Resilience: The ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a positive outlook during challenging transitions
