GSL Education are looking a skilled Learning Support Assistant to join a school in Birmingham. As Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will help pupils overcome learning barriers and reach their full potential by working closely with teaching staff to provide targeted classroom and one‑to‑one support to the students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ensuring learners remain engaged, confident, and well supported throughout the school day. Job Responsibility:
Provide one-to-one and small group learning support to students with SEMH needs
Assist pupils in understanding tasks and accessing the curriculum
Encourage positive behaviour and participation in lessons
Support pupils with additional learning needs where required
Help maintain a safe and structured learning environment
Support pupils to access learning, build confidence, and thrive within a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment
Help pupils overcome learning barriers and reach their full potential
Provide targeted classroom and one‑to‑one support to the students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ensuring learners remain engaged, confident, and well supported throughout the school day
Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs in an educational setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A patient, caring, and supportive approach
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one)
strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection
