This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils across both mainstream and SEN settings, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Every child is unique, and your approach will be adapted to meet their individual needs. You’ll work alongside classroom teachers and the SENCO to help pupils achieve their personalised learning goals, often through 1:1 support and small‑group interventions.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting teachers with lessons and classroom activities
Providing 1:1 and small‑group learning support
Encouraging children’s development through play, structured tasks, and positive interaction
Helping maintain a calm, organised, and engaging classroom environment
Supporting behaviour management and emotional wellbeing
Observing pupil progress and sharing feedback with teaching staff
Requirements:
Passionate about working with children and creative in your approach
Confident managing behaviour and supporting emotional needs
Comfortable leading a class or group in the teacher’s absence
Emotionally resilient and calm under pressure
Friendly, approachable, and committed to inclusive education
Awareness or experience of supporting individuals with SEN
Nice to have:
Experience supporting mental health in an educational or care setting
Relevant qualifications or educational background
Enthusiasm to learn, a great sense of humour, and a growth mindset
Enhanced DBS (Affinity Workforce can assist with this)
