Are you a compassionate and flexible Learning Support Assistant looking to make a difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs? A welcoming and inclusive school in the West End of Newcastle is seeking dedicated LSAs to work on a supply basis. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, including those with experience in health and social care, youth work, or higher education. You will work on a day-to-day or short-term supply basis, supporting learners with a variety of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, social anxiety, and challenging behaviours. The role may involve working 1:1, in small groups, or supporting whole classes, and includes personal care responsibilities.
Job Responsibility:
Provide tailored support to learners with additional needs
Assist in the delivery of lessons and activities across all age groups
Support emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour strategies
Help students access learning and develop key social and communication skills
Support with personal care, including toileting and hygiene routines
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other support staff to ensure consistent care and support
Requirements:
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (in school or other settings)
Comfortable with personal care duties
Resilient, nurturing and calm under pressure
Able to work confidently across all age groups
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one)
Excellent communication and team-working skills
Reliable and available between 8:00am and 4:30pm on an ad hoc basis
