Job Description

Learning Support Worker: Joining a Centre of Excellence in Specialist Education. Location: Cranleigh, Surrey | Setting: Specialist Trust. Special Educational Needs is a highly technical vocation requiring a sophisticated blend of resilience, clinical insight, and pedagogical adaptability. Our Specialist Trust in Cranleigh is currently seeking experienced practitioners who are ready to transition from a generalist classroom into a dedicated, resource-rich environment designed for neurodivergent success. We support children and young people with complex Autism (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and associated learning profiles within a framework of excellence.

Job Responsibility

  • Integrated Clinical Synergy: Collaborate daily with a permanent, on-site team of Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists to implement and refine complex EHCP goals
  • Low-Arousal Environments: Operate within a purpose-built, low-stimulus setting designed to minimise anxiety and maximise cognitive engagement
  • Expansive Pedagogical Assets: Utilise our premier 23-acre site to deliver high-quality outdoor learning, vocational pathways, and community-based life skills
  • Evidence-Based Practice: Apply your expertise in AAC (Makaton, PECS, Proloquo2Go) and positive behavioural support within a structured, data-driven framework

Requirements

  • Proven Track Record: Substantial experience supporting complex needs (ASC, SLCN, or SEMH) in a professional capacity
  • Communication Proficiency: Advanced competency in alternative communication methods and the ability to mentor junior staff in these modalities
  • Strategic Resilience: An expert understanding of de-escalation, maintaining professional boundaries, and the importance of long-term consistency in student development
