Our client is a very successful, multi-site Alternative Provision serving primary-aged learners in the Calne area of Wiltshire. They are currently in the process of preparing to open a site in Swindon and are interested in experienced and/or qualified education staff to join their new team. The plan is to use their existing successful service as a template for their new site in Swindon so if you want to work in a SEND specific setting and work in a positive setting - this is the job for you. This is a full-time permanent opportunity which will start on a 60 paid-days basis and will become permanent on successful completion of the trial period.
Job Responsibility:
Act as a positive role model to young children
Work in small groups or 1:1 with every pupil
Use a THRIVE approach and also with music therapy
Offer a coaching & mentoring approach to upper KS2 pupils to prepare them for the transition to secondary school
Participate in Forest School and outdoor education programme
Engage parents in supporting children at home by helping to set boundaries and managing behaviour
Work alongside outside organisations to support positive change for these children
Requirements:
Experience of working with children who have had to overcome barriers and difficult situations
The ability to engage parents in supporting children at home by helping to set boundaries and managing behaviour
Confident with working alongside outside organisations to support positive change for these children
The desire to go through training and deliver ideas so that the school can implement these immediately or in the near future
Passionate about working with young people in education
Have a good understanding of what makes an effective intervention strategy
Committed to safeguarding young people and helping them overcome difficulties
Committed to ensuring students maximise every opportunity to achieve academically and personally
Able to work within a dynamic and challenging environment
Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
Nice to have:
Previous experience of working with children that have SEMH, are experiencing trauma and display challenging behaviour and other areas of SEND
Worked in an education setting with SEND learners
Training in positive behaviour management (such as Team Teach) and/or THRIVE training
Practical experience of working with children displaying challenging behaviour
