Job Description:

Anticipated 2026/2027. The role of the learning specialist is to provide students with academic support. Learning specialists will work closely with students, teachers, guidance counselors, and building administrators to create and foster a positive environment for student success.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work closely with students, teachers, guidance counselors, and building administrators to create and foster a positive environment for student success

Requirements:

  • NYS Math Certification Required
  • TESOL preferred
  • Bilingual Extension preferred
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, guidance counselors, parents and building administrators
  • Have strong content knowledge of elementary curriculum across all subject areas
  • Contribute to the development of systems and structures to improve teacher practice within the District
  • Provide direction for the pedagogical delivery of the curriculum consistent with District initiatives and recognized Next Generation Learning Standards
  • Support students in understanding curriculum and assessment
  • Provide differentiated lessons to students based on their individual needs
  • Administer benchmark assessments in order to identify student's strengths and weaknesses and help design a custom support plan based on student’s individual needs
  • Empower teachers in the utilization of data to target and improve instruction on all levels
  • Interpret the results of diagnosis to students, parents, teachers and other faculty
  • Help teachers in the classroom make use of information from diagnosis in their teaching
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with children of all ages who are dealing with various learning troubles
  • Display highly effective communication skills geared to various age groups
  • Four (4) years of classroom experience preferred
