Job Description:

Alderman Bolton Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a committed and compassionate Learning Mentor to support pupils’ emotional, social and academic development.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support pupils’ emotional, social and academic development
  • Work with children who experience barriers to learning
  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support to promote wellbeing, positive behaviour, engagement and inclusion
  • Work closely with teaching staff, the SENCo, families and external agencies to implement effective support strategies
  • Contribute to individual plans
  • Support pupils during times of transition
  • Play an important role within the school’s pastoral and safeguarding framework
  • Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with children in a school or similar setting
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Commitment to inclusive practice
  • Empathetic, calm and resilient
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues

Nice to have:

Experience of mentoring, pastoral support or therapeutic approaches
