Job Description

We are seeking a passionate, resilient, and deeply empathetic Learning Mentor in the Plymouth area to support incredible young people who need a tailored approach to education. We know that before a student can engage with learning, they need to feel safe, understood, and emotionally secure. This is a highly rewarding role within a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) environment, perfect for someone who wants to make a tangible, life-changing impact every single day.

  • Partner with Families: Build strong relationships and work closely with parents and carers to ensure a consistent, supportive approach between school and home
  • Community Engagement: Take learning beyond the classroom. You will support students out in the Plymouth community to develop vital life skills, boost social confidence, and navigate real-world scenarios

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or trauma histories)
  • an adaptable, creative mindset-ready to pivot a session if a student is having a difficult day
  • strong communication skills to build trust with anxious students and protective families alike
  • a proactive attitude toward community-based learning and safety
