Job Description:

We are looking for a resilient, high-energy Learning Mentor to join a small, specialised school in the Plymouth area. This is not a standard 'classroom assistant' role; you will be the bridge between a student's emotional well-being and their academic progress. You will be working with 1:1 with a child with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. For these students, success is built on trust and consistency. If you can be that reliable, steady adult in their lives, you can change their entire educational trajectory.

Job Responsibility:

  • Working 1:1 to help students engage with their learning
  • Helping students regulate their emotions, build self-esteem, and develop positive social behaviours
  • Using vehicle to support students in off-site learning activities or transitions
  • Assisting students in achieving their GCSE English and Maths

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • Minimum GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
  • Previous experience working with SEMH children (in a school, youth work, personal, or residential care setting)
  • Must be available full-time for at least 3 months
What we offer:
  • Training and education
  • Paye
  • Referral bonus
  • Mileage/bridge/fery reimbursement (when with a child)
  • Full week paid induction and training before start
  • Permanent potential
