The Learning Experience Instructional Designer 3 position is responsible for managing the hybrid and online graduate course development project for the Rady School of Management and is the content matter expert on Rady Canvas and online course development.
Job Responsibility:
Managing the hybrid and online graduate course development project for the Rady School of Management
Serving as the content matter expert on Rady Canvas and online course development
Overseeing the conversion of existing in-person graduate courses to hybrid/online, development of new hybrid/online courses, and the maintenance and assessment of the existing hybrid/online courses
Working closely with Rady faculty, Rady leadership, campus partners, and external vendors
Prioritizing and monitoring the completion of a wide variety of project tasks
Ensuring that the timeline of course development is on track and correctly prioritized
Tracking development to ensure that the needs of the department, program, and students are being met
Providing appropriate guidance to faculty regarding hybrid course development and improvements
Using active listening skills to understand their requirements and concerns, and using instructional design knowledge to find solutions
Serving as the expert at Rady on Canvas, our learning management system and provides guidance on its use along with any necessary integrations
Together with graduate instructional support staff, creates and maintains Canvas pages for all Rady graduate courses, and ensures that information is accurate
Specifically, create Canvas pages for each incoming cohort of students, add new incoming students to RadyReady (orientation onboarding Canvas course), and manage the enrollment/drop process in Canvas
Serving as member of the Rady Educational Technology Committee providing guidance and evaluation of learning technology needs and requests
Working with Rady IT and faculty leadership to implement approved learning technology tools
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience developing an online learning experience/course throughout the entire end-to-end design cycle, from the scoping phase to deployment and offering on a learning management system (e.g. Canvas)
Experience establishing protocols for consistency in content and appearance and implementing by sharing standards with others. Ensures ADA compliance. Follows FERPA guidelines
Demonstrated experience with the complete life-cycle of LMS administration
Experience planning and implementing production schedules, course learning objectives, and pedagogical strategies for the use of various tools and technologies
Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems. Experience with Google Drive, Microsoft suite, Outlook email, Zoom. Experience creating project management timelines, spreadsheets, documents, presentations
Experience interacting with, orienting, and advising faculty/instructors on best practices in online learning
Thorough knowledge of e-learning strategies, including but not limited to courses (e.g., processes and technologies, etc.)
Thorough knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (such as Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or closely related discipline) or similar work experiences
Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills
Strong analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and strong collaboration and negotiation skills. Rapport building skills. Prioritization, multi-tasking, and organizational skills. Project management skills
Thorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning
Advanced level skills in application of planning, resourcing and monitoring of effective design life cycles of training and other learning and performance solutions to support the organization
Customer service skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate complex messages in written form, and correspond with current or prospective customers and vendors in a diplomatic, helpful, and professional manner. Strong emphasis on high-quality of service and prompt response to customer concerns
Nice to have:
Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a closely related discipline with two years of higher education instructional design experience
Experience working in a graduate business school, preferably with awareness and knowledge of graduate business school curriculum and practices
experiencing interacting with business school faculty, ideally at one of the University of California campuses
