This is an exciting opportunity for aspiring Learning and Skills Workers who would like to progress into teaching while working in a permanent, full-time Learning and Skills role. We are committed to making a positive difference and are seeking motivated and passionate colleagues who are enthusiastic about a career in education. We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Hull, working as a Learning and Skills Worker. This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis working 37 hours per week.

Job Responsibility:

You will be recruited as a Learning and Skills Worker, with the aspiration to develop within teaching. You will support teaching cover and annual leave while developing your skills and experience. When covering teaching sessions, you will be paid in accordance with teaching pay scales.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to develop and work towards a Level 5 Certificate in Education
  • Willingness to develop a subject specialism in Maths or English
  • Aspiration to progress into a Maths or English Teacher role
  • At least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to a career in teaching
  • Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups
  • Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities
  • Proven track record of achieving performance targets
  • Demonstrate accurate and timely reporting
  • Demonstrate team working
  • Have effective communication skills
