We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about helping people learn and supporting a strong, skilled workforce across Birmingham Children’s Trust. If you enjoy designing training, working with different teams, and seeing the real impact of your work, this could be a great next step for you. As our Learning And Development Officer, you’ll help plan, develop, and deliver learning activities for staff across the Trust. You’ll work closely with colleagues to understand what people need, create or adapt training materials, and support programmes that help our workforce grow and develop. You’ll also be involved in project work, organising meetings, contributing to workforce development plans, and building strong working relationships across services.
Job Responsibility:
Delivering learning and development sessions to a range of staff groups
Designing and updating training materials and resources
Supporting leadership and management development activities
Helping to assess programmes against national standards
Managing your own workload and contributing to wider team projects
Using data, feedback, and information to shape training and identify improvements
Working with teams across the Trust to support workforce development priorities
Requirements:
Experience in delivering or coordinating learning and development for adults
A good understanding of how adults learn and what makes training effective
Strong presenting and communication skills
The ability to plan and manage a varied workload
Confidence working with different teams and building professional relationships
Good IT skills and the ability to prepare reports or presentations
A proactive, solution-focused approach
Willingness to travel around the city and occasionally work outside normal hours
Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusive practice
A background in learning and development, assessing, management, social care, teaching, or a related professional area would all be relevant
If you don’t already have an Learning And Development qualification, you’ll need to be willing to work towards one
