An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Leader Writer to join the Comment team. The role involves crafting influential editorials that state the Telegraph’s view of the issues of the day.

Job Responsibility:

  • Writing persuasive daily editorials that capture the Telegraph’s view of the issues of the day
  • Pitching ideas at Leader conference, consistent with the principles of the Telegraph and the interests of our readers
  • Building and retaining high-level contacts in politics and current affairs to help inform the editorials
  • There may be an opportunity to write other forms of pieces, including opinion columns

Requirements:

  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Very strong editorial judgment
  • Excellent knowledge of politics and current affairs
  • An interest in debate and the principles that the Telegraph stands for
  • Previous Leader-writing experience (desirable)
