Job Description:

Lead Wealth Underwriter for Legal Specialty Group at Wells Fargo, providing support to Wealth & Investment Management in serving affluent, high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, families, family offices and charities. The role involves analyzing complex financial and credit information for law firms and underwriting commercial loans with high aggregate credit exposure.

Job Responsibility:

  • Analyze complex financial and credit information for law firms according to business unit standards
  • Underwrite commercial loans with high aggregate credit exposure
  • Manage a credit portfolio of clients
  • Compile, analyze, and document loan data and credit risk, borrower and property information
  • Partner with Private Bankers and Regional Directors to deliver high-quality custom credit solutions
  • Exercise independent judgment and work with minimal direct supervision
  • Monitor and service existing portfolio and communicate findings and recommend solutions to management

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Wealth Underwriting experience or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education
  • Experience with legal documents and working with outside legal counsel
  • Reviewing legal documents and leading negotiations
  • Knowledge of WIM Credit Policies and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Experience in financial analysis, underwriting and structuring of highly complex commercial banking relationships
  • Thorough knowledge of financial accounting theory and logic, loan structuring, commercial products and services
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and discuss analytical data
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Proficient with computers and software applications (MSA, MS Excel, MS Word, other MS Office Suite applications) and applicable mainframe systems
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
