Lead Theatre Practitioner - Scrub Fairfield Independent Hospital 37.5 Hours & Permanent Salary: Up to £48,000.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification) Fairfield Independent Hospital in St Helens is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. We have an opportunity for a Lead Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
Ensure that all patient safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion, and accountability.
Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their rights, safety, and dignity are upheld at all times.
Apply all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures to theatre operations, ensuring adherence to professional and regulatory standards.
Work collaboratively with anaesthetists, surgeons, recovery staff, and wider hospital teams to ensure effective patient flow and continuity of care.
Requirements:
NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment (e.g. scrub, recovery, or anaesthetics).
Demonstrated clinical leadership experience and ability to act as a role model to peers.
Strong understanding of patient safety protocols, safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance.
Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification [for scrub leads].
ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
Approved / recognised anaesthetic course.
ILS.
Excellent communication, organisation, and mentoring skills.
Commitment to personal development and supporting the development of others.
Nice to have:
Experience in major orthopaedics is desired.
