Lead Technician Certified

• Works under the direction of the Instrument Processing Supervisor and assists with the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD)
• Serves as a departmental resource for SPD and other departments and models excellent customer service
• Maintains frequent and ongoing communication with the Sterile Processing Supervisor
• Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees
• Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned
• Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees
• Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor
• Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators
• Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department
• Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs
• Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies
• Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned
• Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s)

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Two years' experience in Sterile Processing
• Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterile processing certification
• Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire
• Ability to stand for long periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
• Ability to work with computer programs such as Excel and others as needed
• Ability to order instruments via PeopleSoft
