Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Lead Technical Designer to join the development of a new IP. Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining! As a senior leader within the Technical Design department, you will be responsible for owning the technical design vision, driving execution across gameplay and content systems, and ensuring high-quality implementation from early prototyping through final polish. As a member of the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better; with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.
Job Responsibility:
Partnering with leadership across engineering and content teams to define, communicate, and maintain the overall vision and direction for gameplay and content design
Owning and evolving the technical design of vision, rules, and principles for the entire game
Leading technical design strategy across systems, ensuring scalability, quality, and long-term maintainability
Driving cross-disciplinary collaboration on technical solutions, pipelines, and tools that support gameplay and content design implementation
Taking end-to-end ownership of technical design for gameplay prototypes, from ideation and rapid iteration to final, production ready implementation
Managing, mentoring, and developing technical designers, including onboarding, coaching, performance feedback, and career growth
Analyzing, pitching, prototyping, and developing technical design features, systems, and tools for an unannounced AAA project
Setting standards for technical design documentation, including one-page pitches, system outlines, tools and pipeline briefs, and other clear, effective communication artifacts
Leveraging deep technical expertise to implement systems using proprietary tools and workflows
Acting as a key technical design stakeholder, ensuring partners across gameplay, art, engineering, and production are informed and aligned throughout development
Providing regular, constructive feedback across your team’s features and across the game as a whole
Staying current on industry trends, including emerging genres, new design techniques, and advances in audiovisual and technical excellence
Requirements:
Proven extensive experience shipping AAA titles, including experience in lead or senior technical design roles
Demonstrated leadership experience, driving technical design teams, processes, and pipelines
Strong vision setting and communication skills, with the ability to align and inspire teams around shared goals
Hands-on experience with various engines
A deep understanding of gameplay systems and player experience, backed by extensive experience playing games
Proficiency in scripting gameplay logic using scripting languages including C#, Lua, and Python
Fundamental understanding of C++ enables you to review and modify code on a limited scale
Strong self-motivation, ownership, and resilience, with a positive, solution-oriented mindset
Nice to have:
Strong understanding of complex mathematics as applied to gameplay systems
Experience developing multiplayer games and familiarity with client–server architectures
Strong knowledge of performance considerations and optimization related to game content implementation
