Job Description

Lead Technical Architect Contract Opportunity - £700 Inside IR35 - Hybrid (1 day per month in London). Morson Edge have partnered with a leading retail client to recruit a Technical Architect to take ownership of designing and delivering scalable, secure, and modern technology solutions across a hybrid Microsoft environment. This is a key leadership role, responsible for shaping technical direction, defining architecture standards, and ensuring solutions are delivered in line with best practice. You'll work closely with engineering teams, suppliers, and senior stakeholders to drive successful outcomes across a range of transformation initiatives.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the end-to-end architecture of solutions (discovery, design, governance, and delivery oversight)
  • Produce and own High-Level and Low-Level Designs (HLDs/LLDs)
  • Define and maintain architecture standards, patterns, and reference architectures
  • Collaborate with delivery teams and suppliers to ensure solutions are implemented as designed
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, presenting designs at architecture and governance forums
  • Embed security best practices into all architectural decisions

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Technical Architect in complex environments and strong expertise across hybrid Microsoft technologies, including: Azure (IaaS/PaaS)
  • Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, Intune)
  • Entra ID / Azure AD
  • On-prem infrastructure (Windows Server, Active Directory)
  • Experience bridging architecture and delivery, working closely with engineering teams and 3rd parties
  • Strong background in identity and access management
  • Experience contributing to or leading cyber security initiatives (e.g. Defender, SIEM, security controls)
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Nice to have

  • Experience delivering cloud migrations or modern workplace transformations
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (e.g. NIST, ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, GDPR)
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Azure, TOGAF, CISSP, CEH, Prince2)
  • Experience working with and assuring 3rd party vendors and suppliers
