Job Description

AnaVation is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our team and support our mission critical customer in Reston, VA. This team works with AWS cloud services including modernization of Elastic, RHEL, WSUS, and cross domain integration and automation. Our team supports and enhances 10 core application and data services used by multiple Government Agencies. The Engineering Team includes 15 staff (Systems Integration Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Software Engineers, System Administrators, Database Administrators, Data Scientists, and Information System Security Officers).

Job Responsibility

  • Represent the engineering team in customer meetings
  • Plan quarterly Agile Development Planning commitments
  • Drive technology roadmaps
  • Work with the AnaVation Program Manager to accelerate customer priorities
  • Mentor senior, mid-level, and junior engineers
  • Support and enhance 10 core application and data services used by multiple Government Agencies
  • Plan/estimate staffing, software licensing, and hosting capacity for roadmap projects and capabilities
  • Personnel supervisor position with 5-7 direct reports including performance reviews, engineering career planning, technical interviews for new staff, Agile Delivery (Jira) prioritization and reviews, and ongoing timesheet approvals

Requirements

  • Clearance: SCI Eligible, willing to obtain polygraph
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical field
  • Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT II and CSSP Infrastructure Support certifications (CompTIA CySA+ preferred or equivalent) within 30 days of contract start
  • Location: Full time on-site in Reston, VA
  • Experience: 8-12 Years of relevant technical experience
  • At least 4 years of experience leading AWS Cloud development modernization, monitoring, and support and production delivery
  • At least 4 years of experience leading Linux development engineering and production delivery
  • At least 4 years of experience leading supporting/leading Agile Development engineering programs for Government program customers
  • At least 4 years of experience working in classified Government environments
  • Understanding of modern architectures including cloud, Full stack experience with modern application development environments
  • Experience provisioning, configuring, and managing development, test, and production hosting environments
  • Expertise in one or more programming or scripting languages (Java, Python, PHP, Javascript, BASH, PowerShell)
  • Experience in requirements traceability, documenting technical architectures, securely configuring technology stacks and COTS/GOTS software, planning/estimating design, development and deployment of new capabilities, testing and integrating new capabilities
  • Experience with Government Assessment and Authorization (A&A) following Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Excellent communication skills and regular interaction with Contractor Program Manager and Government Leadership

  • Desired Clearance: Active SCI with Polygraph
  • Desired Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical field
  • Desired Certifications: Active CompTIA CySA+ or equivalent certifications covering both DoD 8570 IAT II and CSSP Infrastructure Support
