Subsea7 is currently seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join the GPC East engineering team in our Kuala Lumpur office, providing systems engineering support to our subsea projects within the Asia Pacific region. Working as part of the global GPC (East) Systems Engineering team, the Lead Systems Engineer will be responsible for ensuring delivery of a technically robust and optimized system solution for the Subsea Umbilical Riser and Flowline (SURF) elements of a subsea development. The majority of the time spent shall be on Define and Execute phase of projects delivered by the GPC (East) organization in the Asia Pacific region. The Lead Systems Engineer shall support the engineering manager and be able to work autonomously to identify and realise the areas of value to a Project. The Lead Systems Engineer will coordinate the development and integration of systems design solutions across large, multi-location technical teams. Projects may commonly require systems integration both internally within Subsea7 and externally with our alliance subsea hardware delivery partners. The role shall also include close technical collaboration with early client engagement activities delivered through Subsea7's Field Development Group (FDG) to ensure alignment of strategy, development of viable and competitive technical solutions, achieve effective communication between early engineering and execution teams, and to manage the hand-over of projects during engineering transition phases and tendering processes.
Job Responsibility
Understanding and communication of system design architecture and functional requirements
Understanding and communication of design drivers and decision-making criteria
Responsibility for the technical co-ordination of discipline work-scopes that cover the function and design of the system
Responsibility to ensure mechanical and functional compatibility and consistency across the system
Responsible for management of design trades to optimize the performance of the system in relation to the identified drivers and decision-making criteria across functions
Understand client drivers and implement in design/equipment and architecture selection (e.g. operability, availability, integration with subsurface etc.)
Apply a system level view and decision making to the following typical activities: PFDs, schematics, block diagrams, field layout
Production assurance/flow assurance input
Defining the Master Equipment Listing
Helping frame the key subsea philosophies (future expansion, isolations etc)
Reliability/availability modelling
Testing and commissioning philosophies
Process safety, protection and risk management
Supporting to tendering teams to interpret the client requirements, identify Project drivers identify key threats and opportunities within a Tender
Supporting the Early Engagement team (FDG) in the system definition for conceptual and Pre-FEED Studies
Requirements
Degree educated (engineering degree or similar), and preferably have a Systems Engineering or Engineering Management background, including detailed knowledge of subsea systems
A minimum of 10 yrs experience of working in subsea projects
Can demonstrate experience and familiarity with collaborative working practices and ability to engage across organizational groups and regions
Experience in a technical leadership role(s) within subsea project multi-discipline technical teams and being able to influence decisions during the design phase of a project
Experience of identifying and managing interfaces within the engineering team, including technical disciplines, project management, client, suppliers and key stakeholders
Experience in one or more of the following packages: Systems Engineering
