Our organization is seeking a proactive and highly skilled Lead Windows Systems Administrator to oversee and maintain our Windows-based systems while spearheading a diverse team of IT professionals. This hybrid role combines a 50% focus on technical, hands-on systems administration and a 50% focus on team leadership and operational management. The ideal candidate will blend technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities to deliver seamless IT solutions, enhance organizational performance, and drive technology modernization initiatives.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Server environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security
  • Implement security protocols, system updates, and patch management to protect sensitive data and infrastructure
  • Diagnose and resolve performance issues, service disruptions, and capacity planning to safeguard smooth operations
  • Lead cloud-based initiatives, including migration to hybrid or fully cloud infrastructures like Azure or AWS
  • Deploy automation tools to optimize system performance, scalability, and efficiency
  • Manage and mentor a team of systems administrators
  • Provide resources, guidance, and development opportunities to address skills gaps and improve team performance
  • Partner with IT leadership to align daily operations with long-term strategies, focusing on technology modernization and reducing technical debt
  • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to share insights, address operational challenges, and support business objectives
  • Oversee the successful delivery of key initiatives, such as process transformation, cloud migration, and security enhancements
  • Assist in resource allocation and budgeting to ensure projects remain within scope while meeting quality expectations

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of IT experience with at least 5+ years in a Windows systems administration role
  • Expertise in managing Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
  • Familiarity with cloud services including Azure or AWS, with a focus on seamless migrations and integrations
  • Strong understanding of data backup/restore systems, disaster recovery plans, and end-to-end system monitoring
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and automation tools in enterprise IT environments
  • Proven leadership experience managing IT teams, enabling skill-building, and driving employee engagement
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and foster cross-department alignment
  • Knowledge in addressing technical debt and implementing scalable system frameworks for modernization
  • Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and process improvement skills
