The Lead Structural Engineer is responsible for managing and delivering structural engineering scope for FPSO projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements, international standards, and client specifications.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage structural engineering activities for FPSO FEED and EPC phases
Oversee the design, analysis, and verification of FPSO topside and module structures
Ensure all structural designs comply with relevant international codes, standards, and Brazilian regulatory requirements
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (process, mechanical, piping, naval architecture) to ensure integration of structural design
Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
Provide technical leadership and guidance to structural engineering teams
Interface with clients, classification societies, and regulatory bodies (including Petrobras where applicable)
Support procurement, fabrication, and construction phases, including resolving site technical queries
Ensure adherence to project schedules, budget constraints, and quality standards
Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and constructability evaluations
Requirements:
Minimum 20 years of experience in FPSO or offshore oil & gas projects
At least 10 years of experience as Lead Structural Engineer in FPSO projects (FEED and/or EPC phases)
Proven experience in Brazilian projects or Petrobras FPSO projects
Strong expertise in FPSO topside detailed design and module structural design
In-depth knowledge of international offshore design codes and standards (e.g., API, ISO, DNV, ABS) and Brazilian standards/regulations
Demonstrated experience in detailed design and construction support phases
Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills
Nice to have:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
Chartered/Professional Engineer status is an advantage
Experience working with major EPC contractors
Familiarity with structural analysis software and engineering tools commonly used in offshore projects
