The Lead Structural Engineer works closely with the Architectural, Piping, Mechanical, Process and Electrical disciplines to design foundations, structures and pipe racks required to support process equipment, process piping, instrumentation and power cable trays, and electrical equipment. Additional work will include design of platforms, walkways and elevated structures, buildings, and foundations.
Job Responsibility
Develop designs using reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and light gauge steel
Support work delivered from multiple office locations
Direct project workflow of engineers, designers and drafters to ensure project completion
Interact and collaborate with clients, vendors, and contractors
Manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and work with Discipline Manager and Project Managers to develop contingency plans
Leads teams that include other structural engineers and designers
Participate in services during construction, including field verification, site observations reports, responses to RFIs, and submittal reviews
Requirements
BSCE or equivalent degree from an accredited university
Thorough understanding of applicable design codes and regulations
Working Knowledge of national codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, OSHA and ASTM
Proficiency using RISA, STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural Systems, and RAM Elements
Experience delivering projects utilizing AutoCAD and Revit and coordinating an integrated design using coordination tools such as NavisWorks
10 plus years of experience focused on design of foundations, structures and pipe racks required to support process equipment, process piping, instrumentation and power cable trays, and electrical equipment
Demonstrated experience working in the architectural/engineering (A/E) industry supporting projects in the specialty chemicals, heavy industrial, and manufacturing industries
Nice to have
Masters degree in civil or structural engineering
Professional Engineering (PE) license
Structural Engineer (SE) designation based on passing the NCEES 16-hour Structural exam
