Job Description

The lead store associate position is a keyholder position responsible for independently opening and closing the store in the absence of store management. This role supports the team by guiding associates, stockers, and cashiers through opening and closing duties, helping to maintain store standards, and ensuring an excellent customer shopping experience.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversees the appropriate resolution of employee and customer concerns, aligning with store management as needed
  • Communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to store personnel in the absence of store management to ensure desired results
  • Assists store management with implementing action plans to improve operating results and personnel development
  • Informs store management of team developments and concerns in a timely and effective manner
  • Communicates, cooperates, and interacts effectively with all levels of ALDI employees, customers, third-party vendors, and business partners
  • Leads, develops, and supervises the team to develop sales, engage our teams, satisfy our customers and achieve consistent high performance
  • Understands the overarching company strategy and models the core values of the organization
  • Fosters a positive and collaborative working environment and promotes teamwork among employees
  • Stocks shelves and displays neatly while following merchandising planograms to maximize sales
  • Properly utilizes the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately scan and process customer purchases and informs store management of scanning concerns or errors
  • Complete curbside pickup orders by accurately retrieving items from the store, verifying order contents, and ensuring timely delivery to customers’ vehicles from the staging area
  • Executes opening and closing duties in the absence of store management
  • Delegates and oversees the completion of tasks to store associates, cashiers, and stockers in the absence of store management
  • Assists store management in achieving operational efficiency goals
  • Assists store management in achieving total loss goals
  • Adheres to cash policies and procedures
  • Resolves concerns from store personnel and customers and/or refers such concerns to the store manager as necessary
  • Models, communicates and monitors compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Ensures store personnel adhere to expense guidelines, inventory procedures, product handling, and cash handling policies to minimize loss
  • Ensures store personnel maintain zone standards and merchandising standards at all times

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old required
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in a retail environment and prior management experience preferred
  • Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication that enhances the performance of the team
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to provide effective leadership of store personnel and achieve planned results
  • Ability to understand and implement Standard Operating Procedures and company policies to achieve the store's goals and maintain compliance standards
  • Ability to perform leadership and administrative duties
  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service
  • Ability to operate all store equipment such as cash registers, floor scrubber, cardboard baler, pallet jacks, handheld devices, computers, etc.
