If you want to shape the future of energy, we are looking for a Lead Solar Technician to join our Operations & Maintenance team! Who you will work with This position will involve work at multiple solar PV power plants maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting AC and DC circuits ranging from medium voltage (345kV and below) to 12VDC. The equipment that will need to be maintained includes station service electrical equipment such as motors, and motor controls, electrical switchgear, transformers, inverters, solar PV panels, panel tracking mechanisms, electrical protective devices, main and auxiliary generators, lighting, power supplies, HVAC systems, security and battery support systems. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting and overhauling such equipment as well as preventative and predictive maintenance activities for the afore-mentioned equipment. The position will serve as a Lead Technician who will directly supervise day-to-day activity of the Solar Technicians (up to 10 personnel). This will involve daily scheduling of activities, support activities for the Supervisor/Manager, review/create work procedures, and support daily activities of Technicians by providing technical advice when needed. Attend meetings at the request of the local Supervisor/Manager and fill in when required. Lead Tech’s review manuals and schematic diagrams to determine the tasks, tools, equipment and parts needed and will coordinate Plan of Days, help troubleshoot complicated issues, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the technicians.
Job Responsibility

Provide leadership to a team of up to 10 Field Service Technicians with a focus on reliability-based philosophies to include executing prioritized work schedules, mentoring, coaching, and evaluating performance
Responsible to execute daily scheduling philosophy utilizing a prioritized list of work provided by Planning with a focus on maximizing generation and also ensuring proactive work is prioritized and completed
Installs, tests, maintains and troubleshoots minor components and assist with some major components
Perform current and voltage calculations as necessary
Complete reports and records associated with maintenance and repairs
Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA’s, Permit to Work and job specific documentation that is required to conduct maintenance and repairs in a safe manner
Proactively look for improvement opportunities to job appropriate processes and procedures
Perform data collection and prepare reports in order to meet reporting requirements
Perform balance of plant and switchyard work as required
Responsible for facilitating training requirements such as tasked based certifications, safety training, and compliance training
Effectively gather information regarding plant performance/issues. May diagnose, recommend, and implement solutions up to intermediate routine issues
Act as a safety role model, encourage and recognize others completing safe acts and intervene when unsafe acts are being practiced
Perform a variety of administrative duties satisfying both internal and external reporting requirements
Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environment
Implement effective risk mitigation and provide recommendations to higher level technical staff and management
Demonstrate and promote integrity, strong initiative, and a no-compromise focus on safety and quality of work on a continuous basis
Read schematics in order to troubleshoot complicated mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems with variable pitch, speed control systems, and components
Review completed service checklists for accuracy and maintain punch list for future work activities
Perform data collection and prepare reports in order to meet reporting requirements
Support regional maintenance activities, as needed
Assist with QA/QC activities
Work in conjunction with Technical Support for proactive repairs
Comply with all HSEQ policies and procedures (ISO9001/ISO14001/ISO18001)
Ensure all materials used in maintenance is removed from SAP inventory
At times may assist with BOP activities
Participate in on-the-job training and other training off site
Complete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe
Requirements
5+ year's relevant experience in the renewable energy sector or 3+ years related experience and Associates Degree/Tech School Certification or B.S. Degree (electrical or technical) and 6 months or more of applicable experience
Supervisory experience of field staff as a lead or foreman
Strong attention to detail
Ability to use electrical test equipment such as, DMM, meggers and multi process calibration equipment
IR Certificate Level 1
Strong knowledge in electrical theory and troubleshooting techniques
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software, SQL Server software, facility management and reporting systems, and computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools
Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment (e.g., voltage testers, amp clamps, hydraulic torque equipment, alignment tools, and various hand and power tools)
Experience with industrial operations and maintenance
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of time
Ability and willingness to work overtime on holidays and weekends and to work on short notice as needed due to on-call scheduling
Ability and willingness to respond to site emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as needed
