As the Lead Software Engineer, you will be the senior engineering leader responsible for shaping and driving the technical direction of LGT WM Australia’s Avaloq ecosystem. You will lead the design, build, integration and operational maturity of Avaloq-based capabilities across core banking, digital client channels, reporting, workflow automation and enterprise integrations. You will play a critical role in setting the engineering direction for Avaloq development, integration patterns, standards and release quality. Guiding how Avaloq Core Platform capabilities are extended and integrated to support business growth, operational efficiency and digital client experiences. Mentoring engineers, influencing cross-functional teams and fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
Job Responsibility:
Lead Avaloq engineering by setting technical direction, defining engineering standards and ensuring high levels of code quality, documentation, testing and release readiness
Provide leadership across the Avaloq codebase to maintain consistency, integrity and long‑term sustainability
Drive major technical decisions for platform enhancements, integrations, client‑facing capabilities and automation initiatives
Design and deliver complex solutions that meet business and regulatory requirements, including Avaloq Core Platform configuration, AvaloqScript / ACP parameterisation and integration design
Guide end‑to‑end architecture across Avaloq, ESB, APIs, IAM, reporting and downstream systems, assessing risks, trade‑offs and long‑term impacts
Act as the senior engineering owner for platform stability and operational excellence, partnering with support teams on incident triage, root‑cause analysis, release/change management and environment readiness
Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and operational runbooks, and proactively identify and communicate platform risks
Support audit, compliance and control activities across the engineering lifecycle
Champion engineering quality by driving automated testing, validation controls, regression protection and consistent quality gates
Lead adoption of test automation patterns and collaborate with QA on SIT, UAT and production readiness strategies
Mentor and uplift engineers, supporting capability development, recruitment, workforce planning and technical assessments
Foster a collaborative, accountable and improvement‑focused team culture
Lead agile delivery and stakeholder engagement by contributing to planning, prioritisation, retrospectives, demos and design workshops
Translate technical concepts into clear language for business stakeholders and build strong relationships across business, operations, architecture, security and external partners
Influence prioritisation by making technical complexity, dependencies and risks visible
Requirements:
Extensive hands-on experience in Avaloq development across multiple functional domains
Deep expertise in Avaloq Core Platform, including platform configuration, codebase stewardship and production support
Strong experience in AvaloqScript / ACP parameterisation and enterprise solution delivery in an Avaloq environment
Strong technical knowledge of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
Proven experience leading engineering design and delivery for complex enterprise platforms
Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior technical leader in financial services or a similarly regulated environment
Strong understanding of SDLC, agile delivery practices, change control, release management and operational support
Proven capability to lead engineers, influence stakeholders and drive consistent engineering standards
Nice to have:
Experience in wealth management platforms and related business capabilities such as onboarding, trading, settlement, payments, reconciliations, corporate actions, client reporting and digital servicing
Experience with Avaloq-related web and integration technologies such as RMWP parameterisation, HTML, CSS, Angular, TypeScript, Java, J2EE, JDBC, SOAP, REST and JavaScript
Familiarity with security and infrastructure components relevant to Avaloq ecosystems, such as Ergon or similar WAF, IAM integrations, OpenShift / Kubernetes, Elasticsearch / Kibana, Prometheus / Grafana or equivalent observability tooling
Experience with event-driven and middleware-based integrations, including XML, APIs and enterprise service bus patterns
Experience modernising engineering practices in legacy or core platform environments
