Job Responsibility
Take the lead when the Shipping Supervisor is out and assist with daily shipping operations
Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring staff wear required PPE and follow safety protocols at all times
Hold self and team accountable for getting all outbound orders to jobsites accurately and on time
Prioritize pick waves to ensure the most urgent orders are picked first
Manage the staging process so each staging area contains the correct items for a single order and project
Oversee repalletization to pack pallets efficiently and minimize freight costs
Lead verification and quality control to confirm picked parts and quantities match each order exactly
Direct staff to shrink-wrap, weigh, dimension, and label pallets accurately
Compare freight quotes and select carriers based on cost, delivery time, and jobsite requirements
Book carrier pickups and ensure the correct orders are loaded onto the correct trucks
Enter tracking information into the system and respond quickly to tracking questions
Research lost or damaged freight and process freight claims as required
Communicate proactively with project managers when a shipment may have an issue
Assist with shipping processes including picking items, staging pallets by project, repalletizing, inspecting contents, weighing, measuring, wrapping, and loading shipments in prioritized order
Safely operate power industrial trucks such as forklifts, order pickers, electric pallet jacks, stackers, and scissor lifts at work heights up to 40 feet (training and certification provided)
Use handheld scanners and tablet computers to process tasks, read barcodes, and capture photos for documentation
Follow on-screen directions, troubleshoot problems, and escalate when needed
Utilize software such as Microsoft Outlook and Deposco Warehouse Management System (WMS)
Respond to emails and phone calls quickly and follow up persistently until issues are resolved
Inventory and replenish shipping supplies to prevent stockouts
Train team members to operate heavy machinery including standup forklifts, picker lifts, reach trucks, and ride-on pallet jacks
Maintain data accuracy in the warehouse management system and correct issues promptly
Take pride in maintaining an exceptionally clean and organized warehouse
Requirements
At least 2 years of experience leading a warehouse shipping department
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
Standup forklift certification preferred
Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Outlook and Excel
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to read and interpret long and complex part numbers
Strong math skills including counting, addition, subtraction, and multiplication
Friendly, helpful attitude with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Willingness to stay as long as needed to complete work during volume spikes
Reliable transportation to arrive to work on time
