Job Description:

Applications are invited for a Casual Lead Shift Supervisor in the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department at Al Anderson Memorial Pool. Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the Lead Shift Supervisor is responsible for scheduling, supervising, and evaluating all aquatic employees. This role assists the Recreation Supervisor and the Recreation Programmer in planning, organizing, promoting, and evaluating the outdoor aquatic program. The Casual assignment starts on February 21 or 22, 2026 - 40 hours per week begins March 9, 2026, and ends October 2, 2026.

Job Responsibility:

  • Scheduling, supervising, and evaluating all aquatic employees
  • Assisting the Recreation Supervisor and the Recreation Programmer in planning, organizing, promoting, and evaluating the outdoor aquatic program
  • Assisting with the preparation, organization and conduct of the Wet Interview and Skills Assessment and the In–Service Training

Requirements:

  • Valid National Lifeguard Pool Certification
  • Lifesavings Swim for Life Instructor
  • BCRP Pool Operator I and II Certification
  • Lifesaving Instructor/Examiner Certification
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia

Nice to have:

  • Lifesaving Trainer
  • First Aid Instructor/Examiner
  • Having worked at least one full summer at Al Anderson Memorial Pool
  • Extensive experience in lifeguarding, instruction and staff supervision
  • Courses or training in Leadership or Recreation
  • Lifesaving Society Aquatic Supervisor Training
  • Recreation Leadership Diploma
