Job Description:

AAMCO Lexington Park is seeking an experienced Lead Service Manager / Shop Manager to take ownership of the front counter and drive shop performance. This role is ideal for a confident, decisive service professional who is comfortable selling major repairs, making pricing decisions, and leading daily operations. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on sales execution, decision-making, and workflow control. You will not be turning wrenches, but you must be comfortable owning repair recommendations and closing high-dollar jobs. This is a key leadership role in a busy, locally owned AAMCO center with strong growth potential. The right candidate will have authority, responsibility, and the opportunity to significantly impact shop performance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead front counter operations and customer communication
  • Sell and close major repairs, including transmission rebuilds and replacements
  • Decide repair strategy (rebuild vs reman) in coordination with technicians
  • Source parts and pricing by contacting vendors and suppliers
  • Write and manage repair orders from estimate through payment
  • Communicate clearly with technicians to keep work moving
  • Handle customer objections and close with confidence
  • Oversee daily workflow and support overall shop performance
  • Train and support service advisors as needed

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience as a Lead Service Advisor, Service Manager, or Shop Manager
  • Proven ability to sell high-dollar repairs ($4,000+ tickets)
  • Strong decision-making skills and comfort owning recommendations
  • Confident communicator who can explain repairs and pricing clearly
  • Experience working with vendors and sourcing parts
  • Sales-driven mindset with accountability for results
  • Comfortable using basic computer tools such as email and simple tracking sheets to follow shop processes (training provided)

Automotive or transmission experience

  • Ensure all equipment (including diving life support systems) and vessels are maintained through proactive, preventative maintenance programs
  • Utilize SGS’s maintenance management system (MTC Pro) to schedule and track all maintenance, inspections, and compliance tasks for regional assets – including facility, vehicles, trailers, vessels, life support equipment, generators, underwater video systems, etc. – and maintain accurate logs and photographic records to verify task completion, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance.   • Reconcile maintenance expenditures and CAPEX accounts on a monthly basis in coordination with the General Manager and Regional Accounting, maintaining budgetary control

  • Assign and/or perform routine maintenance on marine diesel engines (e.g. oil changes, filter replacements, belt adjustments)
  • Diagnose and repair issues in diesel engines, propulsion systems, control systems, and hydraulic systems
  • Conduct sea trials to verify repairs and ensure vessels are fully operational and seaworthy
  • Retrofit or upgrade engines and equipment per manufacturer guidelines and industry standards
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, parts used, and diagnostic results for each service or repair in MTC Pro
  • Train and guide team members or vessel operators in proper engine maintenance practices and troubleshooting techniques
