Job Description:

This role is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise-grade database systems. The engineer will lead initiatives around SQL and Azure-based solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency of mission-critical applications, while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Job Responsibility:

  • Architect and maintain robust database solutions across SQL Server and Azure platforms
  • Design and optimize data models for transactional and analytical workloads
  • Develop, test, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions
  • Lead performance tuning efforts including query optimization, indexing, and partitioning
  • Collaborate with solution architects and developers to align database design with business needs
  • Implement best practices for database security, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery
  • Demonstrate strong ownership and accountability for database platforms
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex database incidents and production issues
  • Provide on-call or escalation support as required
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures
  • Drive automation initiatives for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and SQL developers
  • Stay ahead of emerging cloud-native database technologies and recommend adoption where beneficial

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in database engineering and SQL development
  • Advanced expertise in SQL Server and Azure SQL Database
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques (ER diagrams, normalization, dimensional modeling)
  • Proven experience in query tuning, indexing strategies, and performance optimization
  • Hands-on experience with SQL development (stored procedures, triggers, views, functions)
  • Experience with Azure services (Data Factory, Synapse, Cosmos DB)
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases and hybrid architectures
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead projects, mentor teams, and collaborate across functions
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
