Job Description:

The Wells Fargo Commodity Product Group is seeking an experienced individual with physical trading experience in the U.S. natural gas markets. Responsibilities include overseeing the physical gas desk’s Northeast portfolio, managing market risk from client business, and generating trading revenue through market-making and physical trading activities. The individual will collaborate in managing the overall physical natural gas portfolio and developing new relationships for financial hedging and physical trading. This position requires risk management, modeling, and deal origination, working closely with Wells Fargo’s extensive customer base in energy markets.

Job Responsibility:

  • Be part of the Markets Division in Houston which encompasses trading, sales relationships, and client pricing
  • perform daily risk management duties for all aspects of the physical natural gas portfolio
  • exhibit strong analytical and quantitative skills. Be able to work well under pressure and be part of a global team
  • work with the wider commodities trading team to develop and implement trading and risk management strategies and compete for client business
  • help build analytical tools that improve our risk management capabilities and customer engagement
  • be able to build a franchise by fostering current customer relationships and onboarding new prospects

Requirements:

5+ years of experience in capital markets or industry experience within the specific sector of the position, or a combination of both

Nice to have:

  • 6+ years of physical natural gas trading, origination, and/or marketing experience
  • experience with trading physical commodities within the financial services industry
  • proven history of successful trading book management
  • knowledge and understanding of business development: business vision, strategies, and goals
  • strong, clear and concise written and oral communication skills
  • advanced analytical and numerical competency
  • experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership
  • ability to make timely and independent judgment decisions while working in a fast-paced and results-driven environment
