Job Description

We are currently recruiting a Lead Rolling Stock Engineer to lead the certification and safety assurance of new and in-service rail fleets. You will be responsible for providing expertise and support to emerging fleet issues as well as the introduction of new rail products. This position is aimed at the Senior / Principal level with 10+ years experience across design / engineering within heavy rail discipline.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing specialist engineering guidance across fleet upgrades, modifications and introduction of new assets
  • Lead compliance, systems engineering and functional safety activities across rollingstock fleets
  • Ensuring designs comply with rail industry regulations and client requirements
  • Incorporate whole life costs into design changes, ensuring that designs are cost effective
  • Stakeholder engagement including liaising with internal teams, as well as customers
  • Manage and mentor a small team of engineers
  • Ensure compliance with RSNL, ONRSR, RISSB standards and CENELEC frameworks
  • Act as authorised signatory for rollingstock certification and modifications
  • Oversee safety cases, functional safety evidence and accreditation documentation
  • Team management of a small team

Requirements

  • Bachelor Engineering in related field
  • CPEng, RPEQ or MIEAust membership preferrable (you must at least be eligible)
  • Experience in the design, retrofit and manufacture of rail fleet assets such as Locomotives, Bogies, Wagons, EMUs/DMUs + related Mechanical / Electrical auxiliaries
  • Familiar with AS7501
  • Familiar with EN Standards, RSNL, RISSB, ONRSR frameworks
