The Lead Resort Groundskeeper is responsible for performing a variety of landscaping and grounds maintenance duties. This role maintains irrigation systems, regularly mows lawns, weeds, plants flowers, removes debris from property grounds, and overall ensures the resort is well-maintained and presentable. The Lead Resort Groundskeeper also assists with light maintenance work throughout the property, trains and mentors groundskeeping team members, and ensures residents and guests receive quality customer service.
Job Responsibility:
Inspects irrigation systems regularly to ensure they are working properly
repairs as needed.
Maintains water features and fountain areas requiring specialized care including potted plants and landscape areas on pool decks.
Ensures lawns and recreation areas are properly manicured by controlling weeds, weed whipping, raking leaves, planting flowers and shrubs. Spreads mulch, woodchips, and stones, in addition to trimming shrubs and hedges, and removing tree limbs as needed.
Picks-up trash and debris from common areas and streets on a daily basis
empties trash in common areas as needed.
Maintains flowers and plants throughout the resort including discarding and replacing on a regular basis
records number of plants at each location and orders plants and flowers as needed.
Trains and mentors groundskeeping team members on proper groundskeeping and maintenance techniques and safety procedures.
Ensures the resort landscaping is presentable and inviting at all times, and that it adheres to Sun’s curb appeal standards.
Maintains landscaping on all model homes.
Assists Resort Manager in establishing and prioritizing the daily work of the groundskeeping team.
Ensures landscape beds are weeded, neatly edged, hedged and trimmed on a daily basis.
Follows safety procedures while performing duties.
Performs water testing and other maintenance duties related to the irrigation system, well-water system, or on-site water meters, if applicable. Ensures water samples are taken on a regular basis.
Ensures safe storage of hazardous chemicals and/or equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Some High School Education (Required)
2 years in groundskeeping experience, preferably in the resort/hospitality industry (Required)
Proficient in operating various hand tools, power equipment, and commercial machinery
Ability to endure fluctuations in temperatures as working conditions require constant outdoor work
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions
Ability to respond to business needs after normal business hours.
Ability to work well independently as well as on a team
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities
Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs
Must have a valid driver's license
