Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Lead Research Associate to support research, risk validation, and data-driven decision-making within a fast-paced fintech environment. This role will focus on analyzing large data sets, validating merchant and financial information, and providing actionable insights to support underwriting, compliance, and operational teams.

Job Responsibility

  • Analyze and interpret large data sets related to merchant processing, transactions, and risk indicators
  • Conduct detailed financial and operational research to support underwriting and compliance decisions
  • Provide clear, structured data reporting and insights to leadership
  • Identify inconsistencies, trends, and risk signals with strong attention to detail and critical thinking
  • Support initiatives related to payment products, including debit card programs (e.g., Payless debit cards or similar)
  • Partner cross-functionally with underwriting, compliance, and operations teams
  • Develop efficient data tracking tools and reporting dashboards using advanced Excel
  • Contribute creative, out-of-the-box thinking to improve research and operational processes
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure data integrity across systems

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience in fintech, financial services, or payment processing
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (Level 3/4) — including pivot tables, advanced formulas, lookups, data manipulation, and large dataset analysis
  • Experience working with large volumes of financial or transactional data
  • Strong analytical mindset and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to provide clear, data-backed recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (comfortable in a conversational, collaborative environment)
  • Experience in merchant services or payment processing
  • Exposure to debit card programs or fintech product environments
  • Experience supporting underwriting, risk, or compliance teams
