Job Description:

This role involves building foundational backend systems for 'Citi Assist', a Generative AI assistant for Citi employees globally. The position is highly visible and focuses on creating scalable Python systems and ensuring operational excellence. The work includes championing security by design, elevating team capabilities, leading technical projects, and shaping the technical direction of the platform.

Job Responsibility:

Act as the technical anchor for backend services
Lead design and development of robust, scalable Python systems
Take ownership of core platform capabilities
Champion a culture of security by design
Mentor and elevate the team's capabilities
Model engineering craftsmanship principles
Partner with the product owner and scrum master to define and plan work
Foster clear, direct, and proactive communication

Requirements:

Proven experience leading technical projects and mentoring other engineers
Deep, hands-on experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade Python services
A security-conscious mindset
A firm grasp of software design patterns and a belief in writing clean, testable, and maintainable code
Comfort with deploying and managing applications in containerised environments
Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and a belief in automating everything
Solid experience working with relational databases like Postgres

Nice to have:

Experience with other languages like TypeScript, Go, or Java
Direct experience with Generative AI concepts, LLMs, or related personal/professional projects
Experience with data pipelines and ETL tools such as Apache Airflow and Dagster
